Dr.M.Prashanthi Devi is an Assistant Professor (SG) in the Department of Environmental Management, Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirapalli, Tamil Nadu, India. She graduated in Zoology/Botany from Avinashilingam Deemed University, Coimbatore in the year 1994. Later she joined Post Graduation in Environmental Sciences at Bharathiar University, Coimbatore and obtained her degree in 2000. She did her M.Phil., in Environmental Sciences subsequently and joined Ph.D. where she undertook the task of using GIS and Remote Sensing tools for malaria mapping and was awarded her Ph.D. degree in 2006 for her thesis entitled GIS for Epidemic Malaria -Integration of Spatial Analysis and Modeling: A Case Study of Salem District, India. During her tenure of doctoral research, she worked in several DRDO sponsored research projects. Following the award of her Ph.D. degree, she joined DRDO-BU Center for Life Sciences as a Research fellow in Environmental Management Division as a task member to identify monitoring tools for malaria epidemic in North eastern regions of India using spatial techniques. She attended a series of short-term trainings and research workshops before being appointed as a Lecturer at Bharathidasan University in June 2008. She is now an Assistant Professor (SG) and presently heading the Spatial Modeling and Environmental Geosciences division. |
