Douglas Yung earned his B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering and Mathematics from UCLA in 2003 and a Ph.D. in Bioengineering from Caltech in 2008. He worked as a NASA Postdoctoral Fellow at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in California on sensor development microfluidics, and bacterial spore viability. He joined the Department of Electronic Engineering at the Chinese University of Hong Kong as an assistant professor in 2009. He is intrigued by biosensing and electronic interfacing with living cells. On the biosensing side, his research group is developing technologies for rapid viability assessment of superbugs using a combination of electrochemical, optical techniques and MEMS devices. His team is also developing methods to interface living microbes with electronics at a micro- and nano-scale.
Professor Yung has developed a microcantilever-based real-time sensor for monitoring polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons air pollution monitoring and he is developing devices to tackle nosocomial contamination caused by endospores combining nanotechnology, MEMS, spectroscopy, and microfluidics.Dr. Yung received departmental Exemplary Teaching Awards in 2010-11 and 2011-12.he also got Dean's Exemplary Teaching Awards in 2010-11 and 2011-12.

SachchidaNand Shukla, Ph.D. (1992), is currently working as Associate Professor and Head, Department of Physics & Electronics, Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Avadh University, Faizabad, UP, India. He holds 23 years experience of teaching P.G. students of Physics and Electronics. His current area of research is Circuit Designing and Simulation. In last five years Dr. Shukla published more than 40 research papers in pre-reviewed/indexed journals of International repute and published a research book from LAMBERT Academic Publishing, Germany. Fifteen research scholars have been awarded Ph.D. degree in his supervision. Apart from attending 14 National and 10 International conferences/training programs he also visited 6 different countries (e.g. Italy, Malaysia, Thailand, SriLanka etc.) for various academic purposes. He is member of 5 academic bodies of international repute like IETE-India, NASI-India, IAPS-India, IACSIT-Singapore and SCIEI-Hong Kong.
