Vladimir J. Konecni is Emeritus Professor in the Department of Psychology, University of California, San Diego (La Jolla). He received his Ph.D. at the University of Toronto (Canada) in 1973 in Social and Experimental Psychology. Professor Konecni is a recipient of the John Simon Guggenheim Fellowship for research, and a research grantee of the Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst. Among his four major areas of research and scientific writing is Legal Psychology, especially judicial decision making and issues of eyewitness identification. In this area alone, he has had some 50 scientific publications. One of his books (coauthored with Professor E. B. Ebbesen) is “The Criminal Justice System: A Social-Psychological Analysis” (San Francisco: Freeman, 1982).

Elisa Backer, PhD is Associate Professor of Tourism at Federation University, Australia. She joined Federation University (previously called University of Ballarat) in 2008, after being at Southern Cross University for three years. Prior to working in Academe, Elisa held management positions in industry, managing a range of Destination Marketing Organisations. Elisa has co‐edited three books and is on the editorial board for 13 journals.
In addition, she has been awarded eleven awards to recognise her outstanding contribution to tourism research and education. Her main research interests are destination marketing, Visiting Friends and Relatives (VFR) travel, social media, and family tourism.

Dr. George Voskopoulos is Associate Professor of European Studies and currently Head of the Department of International and European Studies, University of Macedonia, Thessaloniki, Greece. He received his MA in International Relations and Strategic Studies from Lancaster University, UK and his PhD in European Studies from Exeter University, UK. C.K. Law (1976, B.Soc.Sc., HKU; 1981 M.S.W., HKU; 1986, M.B.A., CUHK; 1988, D.S.W., UCLA) is currently Associate Professor at the Department of Social Work and Social Administration, University of Hong Kong. His current researches are related to social welfare planning, urban renewal, digital inclusion, welfare reform, employment assistance programmes, social impact assessment and community building and planning. He served as chairperson/treasurer/member of the executive/management committees of several welfare agencies including HK Council of Social Service, Caritas-Hong Kong, HK Christian Service, Boys’ and Girls’ Clubs Association, Senior Citizen Home Safety Association, etc. He had also served as a member of Legislative Council of Hong Kong, in 1995-97 and 1998-2004. He is currently the Chairman of the Community Care Fund Task Force, member of the Commission on Poverty, Child Development Fund, Commission on Strategic Development, Lands and Development Advisory Committee of the HKSAR government.

Dr. Huo is the author of numerous articles and chapters published in both USA and China. These published works cover extensive topics and areas including issues in contemporary Chinese politics, regional disparities in China since the 1980s, politics of ethnicity, foreign policies in Western European countries, Swedish Social Democratic Party, political system in developing nations, etc. by the publishers such as China Quarterly, Westview, Edwin Mellen, Chinese Social Science Institute. His most recent research focuses on cognitive traps and international relations.Dr. Huo also serves for the State of Wisconsin as an advanced budget and policy analyst.

Adenrele Awotona, Professor of Urban Planning and Community Studies, is the founder and Director of the Center for Rebuilding Sustainable Communities after Disasters, and a former Dean of the College of Public and Community Service at the University of Massachusetts, Boston, USA. He was previously a Director of Studies for the British Council International Seminars (“Reconstruction after disasters”) in the U.K. where he has also served at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne as a Director of Graduate Studies in architecture and urban design. Through research, consultancy and teaching, he has professional experience in several countries in five continents. His extensive publications include Planning for Community-based Disaster Resilience Worldwide: Learning from Case Studies in Six Continents, Routledge, 2017. Professor Awotona earned his Ph.D. from the University of Cambridge, U.K. and a certificate from Harvard University’s Institute of Management and Leadership in Education.

Dr. Apt received her Ph.D. in Sociology from Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts and is currently a Professor of Sociology and the Coordinator of the Sociology Program at South Carolina State University in Orangeburg, South Carolina, USA, where she has been for 20 years. She teaches courses in Human Sexuality, Medical Sociology, Social Problems, and the sociology of Genocide, a course she developed for the University. In 2011 she was honored as the South Carolina State University Professor of the Year. As a Medical Sociologist, Dr. Apt is a Consulting Member of the South Carolina Medical Association Bioethics Committee. In addition to her experience as an author and newspaper and magazine columnist, Dr. Apt is the host of a live, call-in radio talk show entitled, 'Talk to Me,' which addresses issues of sexuality and relationships. It is broadcast on 90.3 FM, WSSB, an NPR affiliate.
