Interferons (IFNs) are proteins produced by a spread of cells within the inflammatory response to infections. Their production is triggered by the system in response to pathogens or cytokines. Once triggered, they induce numerous molecular changes that affect cellular responses including cell growth and inflammation. IFNs can play both pathological and beneficial roles within the systema nervosum . Endogenous IFNs play a task in viral infections of the systema nervosum , and therapeutic use of IFNs is common within the treatment of MS (MS). Research suggests that IFNs can also be beneficial within the treatment of other viral, autoimmune, and neoplastic conditions of the systema nervosum.
