A balance approach to pain management

Abstract

Author will present the use of communication and assessment tools for common pain conditions (i.e. fibro­myalgia, migraines) and specific populations (i.e. adolescents). Practical tools to facilitate communication and maximize the use of clinic time will be featured. In addition, tools to facilitate tracking progress and assist­ing the patient with preparing for follow-up visits will be discussed. American Chronic Pain Association (ACPA) supported facilitators offer a community resource that can be leveraged by the healthcare professional in pro­viding patient centered care. They will also focus on the self-management tools needed for a patient with pain to become an active participant in their health care.
