A Survey on Energy Efficient Dynamic Source Routing Protocol for Manets

Abstract

Although establishing correct and efficient routes is an important design issue in mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs), a more challenging goal is to provide energy efficient routes because mobile nodes’ operation time is the most critical limiting factor. In order to maximize the lifetime of ad hoc networks traffic should be sent via a route that can avoid nodes with low energy while minimizing the total transmission power. In a MANET, the energy depletion of a node does not affect the node itself only but the overall network lifetime. This paper presents a comprehensive summery of different energy efficient protocols that are based on the basic Mechanism of DSR.
