FIXED HEAD ECONOMIC LOAD SCHEDULING OF HYDRO-THERMAL SYSTEM USING GENETIC ALGORITHM AND DIFFERENTIAL EVOLUTION METHOD
This paper describes the method for economic load scheduling of short term hydrothermal system using MATLAB software. The paper shows the comparison between Genetic Algorithm and Differential Evolution method for scheduling of hydrothermal system. The main purpose of hydro-thermal generation scheduling is to minimize the overall operation cost and to satisfy the given constraints by scheduling optimally the power outputs of all hydro and thermal units. Short-range hydro-scheduling(1day to 1week) involves the hour-by-hour scheduling of all generation on a system to achieve minimum production cost for the given time period. This study is being performed on a hydrothermal power system network consisting of one thermal power plant and one hydro power plant. Differential Evolution (DE) belongs to the class of evolutionary algorithms that include evolution strategies (ES) and conventional Genetic algorithms.
