Modeling and Comparative Analysis of UPFC and SSSC for Transmission Line

Abstract

The maintenance and reliability of power system is big concern to ensure uninterrupted power supply. For economic transmission of AC power it is necessary to transmit HV power. The FACT devices are used to ensure efficient and economic high voltage power transmission. The stability of the system is affected either by variation in load condition or because of disturbance in power system network. In this paper how steady state stability and transient stability of the system affected and various modes of operation of UPFC and SSSC separately have been discussed. Finally by help of modelling of a power system in MATLAB, and by installing UPFC and SSSC in transmission link, its use as power flow controller and voltage injection is seen. Conclusion is made on different results of Simulink model to see the merits of UPFC and SSSC in power system..
