Modelling and Simulation of Two Separate MPPTs for Solar Based T Type Three Level Inverter
Electrical energy demands are increasing at a rapid rate. This has led to high consumption of fossil fuels, with negative environmental consequences, including global warming, acid rain and the depletion of the ozone layer. The change of energy resources is important in order to overcome the negative impacts of fossil fuel energy technologies that threaten the ecological stability of the earth. Furthermore, rising fuel prices and the growing scarcity of fossil fuel may have negative economic and political effects on many countries in the near future. The improvement of energy efficiency and the effective use of renewable energy sources are key to fulfil the energy demand. PV (Photo Voltaic) generation is becoming a good solution in the event of an energy crisis. For example, multi megawatt PV plants are common in many places. There are many topologies for connecting PV modules to the grid. Among these, the centralized inverter is preferred in large-scale PV applications for practical reasons . However, in terms of maximum power point tracking (MPPT), the mid point inverter may not be the best topology with which to maximize the power generation, as all of the PV modules are tied to a single inverter. It would be desirable to consider the mismatches in PV modules. For better MPPT, additional dc–dc converters can be used to connect split PV modules to the mid point inverter. The simulation is carried over by MATLAB-SIMULINK software.
