Power Quality Improvement in Grid Connected Fuel Cell System
Power electronic converters are utilized for the connection of Renewable Energy Sources (RES) at the Distribution level. The extensive use of power electronic devices generates harmonic current and may reduce the quality of power. In this paper, a Solid Oxide Fuel Cell(SOFC) is connected to the grid through an interfacing inverter for power quality improvement. The grid interfacing inverter is connected to a 3-phase system and Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) techniquegenerates gate pulses for the inverter. Pulse Width Modulation(PWM) technique with dq reference template generation is used. The grid interfacing inverter has the capability of injecting RES power to the grid and also compensates the reactive power demand of the system. Waveforms of voltage, current and the power flow is analysed. The simulation platform used is MATLAB/Simulink.
