Power Quality Improvement with Series and Shunt Compensation

Abstract

Power Quality is a large issue which is becoming increasingly important to electricity consumers. This document presents the realization of the unified power quality conditioner (UPQC) to enhance the electric power quality at distribution levels and compare its performance with a passive filter. The behaviour of UPQC has been analyzed with sudden switching of R-L loads, R-C loads and non linear loads. The system has been modelled using MATLAB/SIMULINK R2010a.
