Radar Based Breast Cancer Detection Using SAR
Breast cancer is a kind of cancer that develops from breast cells. It is one of the leading causes of cancer related deaths in woman. Early detection of cancer increases the successful treatment and survival rates. The method of using microwaves for detection of cancer is more accurate and less harmful. The Electromagnetic simulation of normal breast and abnormal breast specifies the absorption loss of cancerous breast is higher than the normal breast and this is used to detect the cancer. This paper presents a novel method for detecting the tumor by simulating the breast with an electromagnetic signal of 5GHz and identifying the coordinates of maximum value of Specific Absorption Rate (SAR). Results show that at 5 GHz these coordinates could detect a 4 mm tumor and the same was obtained on increasing the size of the breast. As the size of the breast increases the absorbed power value increases.
