Synthesis and Self-Assembly of Some Newly Synthesized Perylene Tetracarboxylic Diimides
Here in this paper, the synthesis of two newly synthesized perylene tetracarboxylic diimides (PTCDIs) namely N,N′-Bis (2,5-diethoxyphenyl) perylene-3,4,9,10-tetracarboxylic diimide and N,N′-Bis (4-butoxyphenyl) perylene-3,4,9,10-tetracarboxylic diimide are reported and are represented as compounds DE-PTCDI and BA-PTCDI respectively. The synthesized compounds were characterized by using different methods such as FT-IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR and mass spectral analysis. The scope of this work was to synthesize new PTCDIs and study its optical and morphological properties. The rod like morphological features of both the synthesized compounds were characterized by using various microscopic techniques such as scanning electron microscopy (SEM), optical microscopy, atomic scope microscopy (AFM) and phase contrast microscopic techniques. Computational studies too were carried out in order to elucidate the structure of these compounds.
