Synthesis, Structural, Electrical and Electrochemical properties of Vanadium-doped lithium titanate Li4Ti5-xO12Vx as electrode material for lithium-ion battery
Abstract
Lithium Titanate (Li4Ti5O12) and Doped Lithium titanium (Li4Ti5-xO12Vx) by using a solid-state reaction. We use lithium carbonate and titanium dioxide for this purpose. And a different percentage of vanadium pentoxide is used. The structural properties of the material are studied. LTO has an octahedral structure. XRD of the samples gives the peaks at 2θ=25O & 2θ=18. Also, the vanadium peak has appeared for the samples with a vanadium percentage of more than 2 %. It appears at the angle 2 theta = 27.5°. The electrical properties of the samples are studied. For this purpose, pellets are prepared for a size 1.2cm diameter and 0.9mm thin. The minimum resistance of the material is observed for 2% vanadium. DRS of the samples is studied and then calculated the bandgap which shows that the bandgap is reduced by doping of vanadium oxide in lithium Titanate. This shows that the conductivity of the lithium Titanate is increased by doping which also enhanced the electrochemical properties of the material by showing stable and high rate performance during the charging-discharging of a battery.
