The Reasons ‘Why?’: Analysis of Recent Suicide Statistics to Identify High Risk Population Groups

Abstract

Suicide is the act of intentionally causing one’s own death, usually due to stress; suicide can be called the end of the road. National Crime Records Bureau, India, have reported that every year, more than 100,000 people commit suicide in India. These are merely reported statistics, where in a majority of cases go undetected. This study aims to analyze recent cases of suicide across India, and identify emergent themes as well as high risk population groups. In our study, we examined this tragic phenomenon across the last 2 years and identified major themes about the major causes and factors leading to suicides in the general population.
